Common questions
How Fast We Get to You
How do I book?
Call (02) 9054 3079, or use the form on our contact page if that's easier. Let us know what needs sorting and roughly when works for you, and we'll lock in a time then and there.
What counts as an electrical emergency?
Sparking switches, exposed wiring, a burning smell, or the power cutting out with no warning. If something feels unsafe, switch it off at the switchboard if you can reach it safely, then call us.
How soon can you fit me in?
It depends on the job and what else is booked that week, but we're often able to fit Allambie Heights jobs in same or next day. You'll get a straight answer on the call, never a guess.
How fast can you get here?
Genuine emergencies get priority and a fast response. Standard bookings run to a time that suits you, agreed on the call rather than left open-ended.
Common questions
Pricing, Straight Up
How do quotes work?
We assess the job over the phone or in person, then hand you a fixed price in writing before any work begins. Once you accept it, that price stays locked in, whatever the job throws up once we start.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
No. There's no charge for us to come out, assess the work and put a price on it. You only pay once you've accepted the written quote and the job is booked in.
What does "$50 off your first service" cover?
New customers get $50 off your first service, taken straight off the job total. Just mention it when you book and we'll adjust the final invoice.
How do I pay?
We'll confirm payment details when we send your fixed quote, and settle up once the work is complete and signed off. No hidden line items turn up on the invoice.
Common questions
Local Answers for Allambie Heights
Do you know Allambie Heights's housing stock?
Most of the suburb went up in the post-war years, so we see a lot of original brick and brick-veneer homes, with older fibro cottages still standing on the steeper sandstone slopes. That build era drives a good share of the switchboard and rewiring work that lands on our books.
Do you work on heritage/strata properties?
Allambie Heights itself is mostly detached and semi-detached houses rather than strata blocks, but the suburbs around it bring us plenty of both. Yes, we handle heritage-sensitive jobs and strata work when it comes up.
How local are you, really?
We're on these streets most weeks, not just passing through for a one-off job. Allambie Heights and the suburbs around it are our regular run, so we already know the housing stock and what tends to need attention in homes from this era.
Why do Allambie Heights's older homes need switchboard upgrades?
A lot of Allambie Heights homes still run original ceramic fuse switchboards from the post-war build, rather than modern circuit breakers. Fuses don't include safety switches, so a fault can go undetected, and boards this old are usually undersized for how much a household runs today.
Common questions
Licensed, Insured and Done Properly
What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?
A safety switch (RCD) trips the circuit almost instantly the moment it senses current leaking somewhere it shouldn't, which is the difference between a shock and a serious one. Plenty of properties from before RCDs became mandatory are still missing them on some circuits, and fitting them is a straightforward add during a switchboard visit.
What is AS/NZS 3000?
AS/NZS 3000 is the wiring standard every electrician in Australia has to work to. It covers everything from cable sizing to circuit protection, and it's what our work is tested against before we sign off.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We hold NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C and we're members of Master Electricians Australia. We're fully insured as well, so you're covered from the first visit to the last.
Can I do my own electrical work in NSW?
No. DIY electrical work is illegal in NSW unless you hold the right licence, and getting it wrong is a genuine safety risk. Any notifiable work needs a licensed electrician and a Certificate of Compliance lodged with NSW Fair Trading.
